Hunter 'All-Aboard!' with QLD Rail Projects in 2023

The Queensland rail sector has been ‘full steam ahead’ the past few years and Hunter have secured themselves a first-class ticket! Hunter have expanded in Queensland with the appointment of State Manager,  Nick Connolly, who brings a wealth of experience to the Hunter team, while his client base is also seeing benefits from Hunter’s extensive resources and network.

“We are positioned nicely to assist a select group of clients with both executive and high-level, technical recruitment.” Mr Connolly said. “Southeast Queensland is one of the main areas in Australia seeing a great demand for staff at Senior, Principal and Director level in the rail industry.”

While the Inland Rail and Cross River Rail projects are receiving media attention here in Brisbane, an additional $3.5 billion is being invested by the Palaszcuzuk government between 2023 and 2026 to greater Queensland

Hunter specialises in ‘white collar’ recruitment on these projects – ranging from executive, c-suite positions to senior and principal engineers with key clients in this space.

“These relationships were not built over night,” Mr Connolly said. “We have been aligned with companies from concept all the way through to completion phase on several projects.”

Hunter not only focuses on major infrastructure projects in this space, but also numerous rail networks connected with the mining and resources sector.

“We are working with some of the leading consultancies and contractors in Australia.” Mr Connolly said. “We are not limited to Tier 1 infrastructure projects, working with a number of clients who have demand for staff with experience in intermodal facilities for the mining sector.”

The state budget also includes a large investment into central and northern Queensland mining rail links.

“We’re excited for the year ahead and always free for a conversation for anyone interested in hearing about the market”.
