Changes to WHS Legislation

The transition periods to adopt changes to the Work Health & Safety (WHS) regulations are approaching the deadline of March 31st, 2023.

 

Do you need a new White Card?

 

Under the new WHS Regulations, requirements for construction workers on a mine site has changed.

 

WHS Mines Regulations Part 6.5 General construction induction training Division 1 – General construction induction training requirements It will be a new requirement for construction workers at a mine site to have certificate of general construction induction training. This requirement was delayed by one year from commencement day, which was 31.03.2022. During this period necessary steps need to be taken to ensure compliance at the end of the transition period. Skill Hire (RTO code 0361) offer two of the risk management units required for statutory positions.

 

  • Approved WHS risk management units for statutory positions

Under Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 [r. 675ZZJ(1)], the regulator has approved specific health and safety risk management units for appointment to statutory positions, following approval of their suitability by the Mining Competence Advisory Committee.

 

The two units on offer are;

  • BSBWHS411 Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs;
  • RIIRIS402E Carry out the risk management process.
